Why? If what you're trying to style is the placeholder _text_, then it
needs to be a pseudo-element. If the goal is to style inputs that are
showing a placeholder, then it needs to be a pseudo-class. What's the goal?

I think maybe our terminologies are crossing wires. After looking up the exact meaning, I think maybe a pseudo element IS preferable over a pseudo class now.<BR>
