OS X makes this assumption. Windows makes this assumption by default, but
enables application of alternative assumptions. One particular alternative,
120, is commonly applied prior to sale by vendors of laptops having
materially above average DPI. Other operating systems vary whether and to
what extent assumptions about display DPI are made, particularly when display
DPI is in fact greater than 96.
