[html5] Long url over-riding CSS

I recently had a case of a long url over-riding the CSS style instruction
within a form, so that the right-hand margin of the box was extended beyond
its defined limits.  I solved this by using bit.ly to shorten the url, but
I'm wondering if there is another way round this.

Apologies if this has been dealt with before on the list.
