FWIW, having looked at the source of html5lib I'd say that it's not  
fragment parsing ready at all. Numerous times there's asserts where code  
for fragment parsing should be or "# XXX innerHTML" comments.

So when working on fragment parsing I'd suggest to not trust html5lib.
