But it's based on how autodiscovery already works in UAs at the moment. 
  The following is already recognised as a feed:

<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" href="/feed">

We can't redefine it in an incompatible way without breaking a lot of 
pages that already use that for autodiscovery.
