HTML5 DOM supercedes HTML2 DOM and doesn't include all it's functionality.  
HTML2 DOM is also vague about some things where HTML5 DOM is not. In  
practice, HTML5 DOM will be compatible with what you're used to.

Sort of. Again, the W3C specification lacks a lot of detail.

I think a more interesting question is whether any UA will implement  
XHTML2.
