[whatwg] <video>? <img>? css?

I'm curious why people feel that adding another element is the way to
go.  Why do people not want to use <img>?  Afraid of <object>
extension craziness?

I'd like to see us have the ability to do video in both <img> and in
CSS places (background: url(foo.mpg) -- we're supposed to be
separating presentation right??)  If we're to support those we will
need similar controls for video.  I've seen various requests over the
last few years for people wanting similar video controls for animated
images.  If we have to add these to img already then do we really need
a seperate video element?
