Hi all,
as some of you may know, W3C launched a month ago an Interest Group on Web
& TV [1] [2]
The new group's mission is to provide a forum for Web and TV technical
discussions, to review existing work, as well as the relationship between
services on the Web and TV services, and to identify requirements and
potential solutions to ensure that the Web will function well with TV.
As a follow-up from the discussions had in the first [3] and second [4]
Web & TV Workshops, the IG chairs have decided to start a first Task Force
on Home Networking Content and Services Discovery and Control [5]
The term Task Force here is to be intended as a light weight subgroup of
the Interest Group. IG chairs are working to define more in details how an
IG TF will work, and these rules will be published on the IG Wiki [6] as
soon as ready. Nevertheless, given the wide interest in this area, we
decided to start the HN TF and use it as a tracer bullet in Web+TV IG.
For the avoidance of doubt, since this is a Task Force inside an Interest
Group, it will not produce a specification.
The aim of the Task Force is to produce (in a short time) a requirement
document that one or more WGs can use to produce specifications that
address those requirements.
Another goal of the TF is also to identify in which group(s) the
specification work can be done (e.g. looking at the current ongoing
activities).
The call for participants can be found here:

The activity of the TF will be summarized using the IG wiki:

Since topics discussed by this TF may overlap with other activities and
technologies, we would really appreciate to gather feedbacks from any
interested person/group in order to help 1)defining the requirements
2)finding overlap with other groups 3)make sure that we don't discuss the
same things in multiple places.
So, if you are interested, please consider providing your feedbacks,
preferable directly on the IG mailing list [7]
Best Regards,
Giuseppe Pascale on Behalf of the Web & TV IG co-chairs
