Following some discussion regarding the src-N proposal[1] on the
blink-dev[2] and webkit-dev[3][4] mailing lists, I think it's a good idea
to move the discussion to a vendor neutral list, where all vendors can
freely participate.
To sum up the discussion so far:
* The src-N proposal got the support of a few people in Blink, while some
people there don't support it.
* The WebKit community objects to the proposal and in particular to its
multiple attribute nature.
* There are signals from Mozilla that they're not interested in
implementing srcset and they would prefer to implement src-N. [5]
* The developer community and the RICG are rallying behind src-n, with work
on <picture> being discontinued in favor of src-N.
Most of the contention revolves around the fact that the src-N proposal
uses multiple attributes, with some people preferring a "list of lists"
micro-syntax inside a single attribute.
Given the importance of this feature to the Web platform as a whole, it's
fairly imperative that all stakeholders get a say - especially if syntax
modifications are on the table.
