Based on the responses to my  suggestion to close this list and the
lack of activity over the years we've  decided to go ahead and do it.
We'll keep the main whatwg at whatwg.org  mailing list, described  here:
https://whatwg.org/mailing-list#specs.

You should all be aware  that most discussion about standards takes
place on GitHub these days, over  at the repositories linked from
https://github.com/whatwg. While it's a bit  of a loss to use
centralized software, overall we believe it has helped  tremendously in
getting more folks involved in standards  development.

You're also welcome to join us on IRC, at #whatwg on  Freenode.

Thanks for your participation and hope to run into you all  again on
whatwg@, IRC, or  GitHub!

Since you didn't quote any message,  it's hard to know who this was aimed 
at. Me? For suggesting that  "arrrggghhhh!" is the appropriate response 
to the misdirected unsubscribe  messages? Or Brett Ryan (who was in the 
to: field of your message; I was  only cc'd)? And for what? Saying he 
laughed at the misdirected unsubscribe  messages right after I pointed 
out that there were lots of misdirected  unsubscribe messages?

I like the fact that you called us out, but not  the guy telling the 
list, over and over, to f!?**!@ off. That's really  something.
