The list was only just formed so I think it's natural to have a lot of
brainstorming at the start, while people come to terms with the scope of
the project.

The more generic forum for these matters, for people wishing to persue
some solutions that aren't in line with WHATWG's charter (backwards
compatibility being the main point here) is probably www-talk at w3.org.
