For my benefit, could you succintly summarise the changes that this would 
involve to the spec? (Not the exact wording, but a basic overview of what 
you see being added or changed.) I'm not sure I really understand the 
proposal at the concrete level.

Also, it would be helpful to have a clear summary of the use cases.
