Hi Doug,
You are right, it is not specified yet anywhere, there is just an idea about it and we discussed in WebApps that we shall wait for feedback to my email.
Having your feedback I have included the OrientationChangeEvent in the spec as a proposal.
It is now available at http://dev.w3.org/2006/waf/widgets-vm/Overview.src.html#orientationchangeevent.
It would be also good to have your opinion on splitting the ViewModes spec.
BTW: I am still working on the ViewModes document, so some obvious bugs should be handled with patience :)

OrientationChangeEvent (as much as any name) sound fine, but I do not
see what values you are passing into the event handler? The defition
was not in [1] or [2] listed in your post, or in the
mediafeatures.html attachment. What am I missing?
